MTRONPTI OFFERS LASER SEALING CAPABILITY

MtronPTI Offers Laser Sealing Capability
Yankton, SD - October 25, 2006 - MtronPTI has significantly advanced its capability to manufacture filter and oscillator products with extremely low leak rates for hermetically sealed configurations. This laser sealing capability supports military and aerospace applications requiring a fully hermetic package with a leak rate of 1E-7 atm cc/sec in air as a typical expectation.
Over the past twelve months, MtronPTI has expanded its product offering to include cavity filters, switched filter banks, and high shock oscillator products. All of these newly established products, as well as the legacy crystal and LC filter products, will be offered with the high hermeticity package option. Ron Stephens, MtronPTI’s Vice President of Military and Aerospace Products, states, “Our customers have been very responsive to the products that we are offering for high reliability and space applications. We are committed to continue supplying a full series of products with advanced features for the military and aerospace market. MtronPTI will also continue to invest in engineering and the specialized equipment that is required to support our customers’ most demanding applications.”
A product already utilizing this new sealing process has been introduced and approved for a major defense contractor, which required a full, hermetic package. Some of the specifications for this part, Model 8919, are:
Less than 1E-7 atm cc/sec in air
Lumped element filter centered at 428 MHz with a 1 db pass band of 44 MHz.
Rejection points of 35 dB at DC to 380 MHz, 20 dB at 380 to 390 MHz, 25 dB at 470 to 550 MHz and 50 dB at 550 to 1000 MHz.
The difficult attenuation performance is held over a temperature range of -55°C to 85°C with only a 0.5 dB pass band ripple requirement and 3.5 dB insertion loss.
