MtronPTI Introduces 100MHz OCXO

ORLANDO, FL, July 30, 2012 – MtronPTI, world leader in custom frequency control and filter products, today introduced the XO5085 series 100MHz low phase noise OCXO for instrumentation, point–to-point or point–to–multipoint microwave, and radar applications.

MtronPTI’s crystal processing capability and a specifically designed circuit results in noise performance of -100 dBc @ 10 Hz, –162 dBc @ 1 kHz, and –170 dBc @ 100 kHz offset. According to Joe Doyle, VP Oscillator Engineering, “The XO5085 Series OCXO combines exceptional phase noise in the industry standard 1” x 1” package. It also offers very good spectral purity, low spurious response, and significant resistance to shock and vibration.”

Paul Dechen, MtronPTI’s VP Sales, adds, “Test and measurement instrumentation accuracy is often limited by the instrument’s master reference clock. Initial frequency error, jitter, sideband noise and vibration errors tend to drop all the way through, corrupting the user’s measurement. On microwave data links, a standard 10MHz clock would cap data rate since effective clock noise doubles each time the frequency is shifted up to get to the microwave carrier.”

Mr. Dechen continues, “For radar, whether airborne, ship or ground, images are blurred by excessive phase noise. Using a low phase noise master oscillator like the XO5085 provides the purity, low high frequency noise, and clarity to make the measurement, deliver more data, or see the target with confidence.”

The XO5085 series is available immediately with a 12 V operating supply, 100 ppb stability over the 0 to 80° C temperature range and low G-sensitivity of 1.5 pbb/g. This is another member of MtronPTI’s growing family of custom designed timing solutions for the demanding requirements of internet communications technologies (ICT), military / aerospace, and instrumentation markets.
