Crystal Filters are a unique form of quartz crystals that are used in electronics systems, mainly communications devices. They provide a very accurately defined center frequency and a very steep bandpass characteristic, far higher than what could be achieved with conventional lumped circuits. Three different filter design technologies are used at MtronPTI to meet a wide variety of filter requirements. These technologies cover a frequency range from DC to 20 GHz with bandwidths from 10 kHz to 10 GHz.
The Filter Product Selection Guide illustrates where each technology is best utilized in terms of frequency and bandwidth. The boundaries are an indication that the chosen technology is approaching its practical or economical limit, although a design may occasionally cross these boundaries. As a boundary limit is approached, complex requirements may no longer be feasible. Some technologies overlap, and in these instances other considerations such as cost, size, reliability, and/or other criteria will influence the design.
