Qualification Procedures
MtronPTI has maintained its capability of performing electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing at the Orlando, Florida and Yankton, South Dakota facilities. This ability has allowed us to select only those suppliers that meet the relevant, required specifications.
MtronPTI also performs qualification testing on raw materials such as crystal bases, oscillator headers, capacitors, diodes, manufactured crystals, and oscillators to ensure that this product meets the internal and customer specified requirements. This testing is in addition to qualification testing that is performed by the supplier. Since portions of MtronPTI's finished crystal and oscillator products are also manufactured at contract factories, these products are subjected to the same qualification requirements as our suppliers. Factory audits are performed at the contract facilities to ensure continued compliance with MtronPTI requirements. These audits focus primarily on the suppliers' quality and manufacturing systems and help to support a "Quality at the Source" manufacturing environment.
Product Audits
Electrical and mechanical audits for raw materials, finished crystals, and oscillators are typically performed to a MIL-STD-105 sampling plan. In cases where customers have other audit requirements, the related work orders and procedures are revised to reflect them. Electrical auditing of crystals, filters, and oscillator products include testing for the specified electrical and mechanical parameters, which are also based on the customer requirements.
A "Quality" Approach to Manufacturing
MtronPTI continues to take a "Quality" approach to manufacturing systems and procedures. The use of rapid process feedback loops, lean manufacturing, and demand flow technology are some of the examples of the direction of manufacturing at MtronPTI. Statistical techniques are also being utilized to analyze and improve process capability along with improving process control techniques.
Customer Support
With on-going resource consolidation in today's business environment, MtronPTI has continued to evaluate methods for making product qualification easier for customers. We have developed product qualification packages that can be used for qualification of MtronPTI products in customer systems. These packages reduce the amount of testing that is required by the customer and help to expedite their qualification process.
