Job Title: Solder Assemblers I – 1st + 2nd shift

Position Summary:

This position assembles electrical, electronic and mechanical assemblies in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Solder Assembler 1 – Able to read and follows procedures exactly as written.
– Continues to follows Good Manufacturing Practices (2D0-1004) including STEP-C
– Understands all aspects of Sn63 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
– Must recognize J-STD-001 standard regarding materials, methods, and acceptance criteria for producing solder electrical and electronic assemblies
– Full understanding of MtronPTI ESD procedures
– Use of hand tools such as torque tools, calipers, wire stripping, tinning pots, vacuum ovens, etc.
– Capable of performing tin and wick operations for gold mitigation
– Follow safe guidelines for chemical storage and use
– Maintains safe and clean working areas.
Solder Assembler 2 – All function of Solder Assembler 1
– Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
– Assists in preparing and lining up work for Solder Assembler 1 personnel
– Understands all aspects of Sn96 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
– Understands and uses leak detection equipment (gross/fine), performs epoxy process
Solder Assembler 3 – All functions of Solder Assembler 2
– Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
– Assists in preparing and lining up work for Solder Assembler 1 personnel
– Understands all aspects of Sn10 solder assembly including
>Thru-hole components
>Surface mount chips 0402 and larger
– Is well cross trained within their main department but can also work in other departments within the production area.
Solder Assembler 4 – All functions of Solder Assembler 3
– Fully understands Space Addendum of J-STD-001
– Continually works and produces S-Level Assembly work
– Able to be self-sufficient in main work area
– Assists in preparing and lining up work for other personnel.
– Works with process engineering to suggest changes in process or product to improve throughout, yield, etc.
– Periodically checks with other peers or line leads to support other functions as needed in the finish product line
– Mentors employees.
– Trains employees.
Solder Assembler 5 – All functions of Solder Assembler 4
– Is recognized as the resident expert in the assembly area.
– Typically, an Area Lead with additional responsibilities of assigning work, inspections, AX transactions and other similar responsibilities as assigned.
– Is well cross trained within their main department but can also work in other departments within the production area.
– Mentors employees.
– Trains employees.

– Hand coordination and dexterity
– Be able to use a microscope for long periods of time
– Accountable for addressing any issues in their cell areas to the supervisor
– Understanding of basic tools or testing equipment
Solder Assembler 2 – All skills from solder Assembler 1
– Ability to switch between areas daily as needed
Solder Assembler 3 – All skills from Solder Assembler 2
– Ability to easily cross trained in various locations.
– Exceptional communication skills with peers, supervisors, and engineering teams
Solder Assembler 4 – All skills from Solder Assembler 3
– Complete Mastery of procedures and processes in area as well as J-STD-001, S-level assembly techniques
Solder Assembler 5 – All skills from Solder Assembler 4
– Ability to direct others
– Computer skills for AX transactions and other data entry requirements

Education, Experience, & Training:

Category Education, Experience, & Training
Solder Assembler 1 – Basic soldering skills are required.
– Valencia EBA assembly class or similar training required.
Solder Assembler 2 – One year of operator level experience required.
Solder Assembler 3 – Two years of operator level experience required.
Solder Assembler 4 – Two years of operator level experience require + Mastery of space level assembler
Solder Assembler 5 – 5+ years of advanced experience required

Physical Requirements & Working Environment:

  • Some light lifting required
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Squatting or bending
  • Walking around the cell or production floor
  • Must be able to work with ITAR data without license.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance
